Hope church is a friendly, modern church with traditional Christian beliefs (see our Statement of Faith). Worship times are lively and led by a music group on stage, and the preaching is bible-based.
The church was founded in 1985 when a group of people from the town who attended what was then Biggin Hill Baptist church started meeting together in Sevenoaks under the name The Town Church. They joined with Kemsing Free Church the following year and in 2002 the church moved into its current location in Mill Lane. At the beginning of 2012 the name of the church was changed to Hope Church.
The church exists to help people follow Jesus Christ and has a vision to do church bigger (see Vision & Mission for more on this).
The pursuit of God is a strong value for us and we want to encounter God every time we meet rather than simply go through a time of singing, listening and praying. It is our conviction that as people genuinely connect with God they are changed, healed and strengthened.
Apart from the main Sunday morning meeting there are other activities and groups to which you are very welcome. These include a course to help you find out about Christianity (Alpha), a range of social activities and lunches and smaller mid-week groups meeting in various locations in and around the area.
Hope Church has a good relationship with other churches in the town across the denominations and is part of the Evangelical Alliance and the New Ground (part of Newfrontiers) family of churches.
We love to welcome visitors whether you’re just passing through and looking to worship for a single Sunday or looking for something more permanent. Feel free to drop into the office at Mill Lane or just come along on Sunday if you’d prefer. Alternatively, if you don’t want to come to church on your own we can arrange for someone to look out for you on the door and find you someone to talk over a cup of coffee.
